A little chit chat

Had dinner with Carrie and Kathy at cwp last wk. Haven seen Carrie for a while and she had a new bf recently, so just wanna find out the details, heheh.

Anyway I was quite surprised when she mentioned they are already discussing plans for marriage which involves a two year plan. That lead to a discussion about guys and relationships. It's really interesting, I have a lot of theories about relationships that I am still working out in my head. U see couples that has been together for a couple of years and maybe the guy hasn't even discussed marriage in detail, must less pop the question. Some couples just get together a few mths and they get married, tada! (that applies to my cousin Terence and his wife Kris)

So how do you know whether if the guy in mind considers u as part of his future? HE WILL TELL U. At least, tats what I gathered from Carrie, and also from Joa. Maybe not tell u directly, but at least drop hints in conversations pertaining to future or marriage. I tink it makes perfect sense, it's sort of like a bulb lighted up in my head. AHA.Cos u might like a person, but that doesn't mean u wan to be with them forever, bcos u know they are not The One.

Not the one u wanna wake up next to every morning, have kids with, comfortably grow old with, cracking jokes, laughing AND holding hands decades down the road. I supposed with the right one, its a journey of self-discovery, simply bcos both of u give each other strength to walk on together. I cun imagine a loveless marriage, feeling empty and devoid of serenity. Or that love can fade after marriage, because seeing old couples holding hands inspires and give me hope. Of course, seeing how some other couples end up also gives me nightmares.........

Some pics of me n baby, her expression very funny hehe

Dinner, Henderson Wave with family

Met up with Kennedy, his fren Ke and Mae for dinner. Haven had a chance to tok to kennedy much since his ROM. Had the below conversation with him.

Me: so where are u living now?
K: still the same at woodlands lo.
Me: wat abt ur wife?
K: at her hse lo.
Me: oh, so have u guys applied for a HDB flat?
K: not yet, we have not yet found one that we liked.
Me: eh..nothing changed le, so y u guys went to ROM?
K: cos we want to?

Now that's one of the sweetest answer I have heard. I'll be meeting him up for dinner on Sat, have to get the rest of the pics from him.

After that, bro came with the rest of the family to fetch me and we proceeded on to Henderson Wave Bridge. It was at sis's suggestion, before that i had never even heard of it.

U have to drive/take cable car to Mount Faber where there is the start of Henderson Wave Bridge. It's a nice place for couples or frens to chill out and relax. Along the bridge are places for you to rest that are constructed like big cocoons, inside the cocoon like thing u can lie down or sit to rest.

We went there on a wkday, so luckily there wasn't much people. I am planning to go again, heard there is a treetop walk and forest walk that I wanna try out.

Owen's visit on one fine day

Met up with my cousin Terence, his wife Kris and Owen(their ten-mth old baby) on one Sat at Cwp. Haven saw them for so long so wanna catch up with them. It was about 9 mths since I last saw Owen. He had changed from an angry squealing infant to a cute albeit shy baby. Din take well to strangers, namely me. Haha so paiseh. As Terence mentioned to me more than once, it's the start of a new generation. Our lives are so different now. But that's not a bad thing either, it's all part and parcel of life.

They look like one big family! :)

When they hold Owen, everything is normal.
When I hold Owen, something happened.

OOoopS!~

A lullaby

I believe most, if not all of u would have heard this kid lullaby while growing up.

"San/Liang zhi lao hu, San/Liang zhi lao hu, pao de kuai, pao de kuai..

Yi zhi mei you yan jing, yi zhi mei you er duo

Zhen qi guai, zhen qi guai"

My question is, is it 2 or 3 tigers?

My bro n his wife insisted that its two tigers bcos there are only TWO tigers mentioned in the lullaby.

My sis and I tink its three tigers, the reason y the third tiger never got mentioned in the lullaby? Because the third tiger is NORMAL.

My mum is so easily influenced, she was the one who sang "3 tigers" lullaby to us when we were babies. And when told it might be "two tigers", she laughed derisively. And yet several days later, out of the blue she ask me uncertainly:

"Is it two or three tigers har?"

My poor baby niece whom we have been singing different versions to, will probably grow up confused.

Supermodel poses from Wanting..heheh

Doesn't her hair look so artfully windswept?......

tats cos my mum was blowing her hair from a distance with a hair dryer...:P

Ya baby, thats the winning smile!~

A doe-eyed stare..not bad for a first attempt..

Doing the "act cute" pose..but wait a min. She IS cute. Not like us old folks.

Even supermodels need a rest now and then.

down memory lane, mustafa centre

Fri- Met at plaza sing for lunch before heading to parkmall to make payment for a short trip.

The day before, we had discussed where to go after parkmall and he acted all mysterious and say just to follow where he is going. Just had some idea that we will be doing some exploring. We ended up in his old neighbourhood, a kinda remote part of spore where he had grown up as a child.

Walked around the area while he pointed out places in the neighbourhood that had remained the same, or had since changed. Got to accompany him down memory lane, as he related to me incidents he had as a child. I like that. It was one of the ideas we had previously discussed for positive outdoor activities, exploration of places or neighbourhoods. Everyone's life is a jigsaw puzzle, which only that person has his/her key to that completed picture. I like that I have more bits and pieces to slot into the jigsaw puzzle of him. Maybe one day there're be a complete picture. :)

Unfortunately, we din manage to complete the tour cos my mum was feeling unwell at hme, so we took a cab back to my hse. It's a pity, but I have promised him that we'll complete the tour next time. It's fun, never mind the hot sun. Maybe we'll end up at my old neighbourhood too, tat be a blast!~

My bro and sister-in-law came at nite and they wanted to go down to Mustafa Centre to take a look at the video cameras, so sis and I accompanied them. It's only my second time there, so I basically just followed them around like the kaypoh I am. But not really interested in gadgets... tink the most interesting thing there is the bookshop. And maybe the supermarket.

Colour Seasons...which season r u?

Recently been having conversations about colour-coding with friends..thought it's quite interesting. I am still not sure which type I belong to....but while out with Keri and Syl the other day, Syl was saying I am definately a Winter. Am I?
Hmmmm....*scratches head*

Below information is useful if you wanna try find out about yours...

Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall - are used to break down cool and warm colors further. Summer and Winter are “cool” seasons; Spring and Autumn are “warm” seasons.

Cool Color Seasons

Summer is a cool tone with blue or pink undertones and a low level of contrast between their hair, eye color and skin tone. They need soft neutrals and pastels, as well as muted colors with cool undertones. Powder blue, dusty pink, mauve, lavender, plum, and pale yellow will complement them. Avoid intense, vivid hues because they will look harsh. Earth tones, black and orange will also drown out the skin.
Summer celebrities: Denise Richards, Eva Habermann, Jeri Ryan

Winter profiles have a lot of depth to their coloring and a lot of contrast between their hair color, eye color and skin tone. Winters need hues that are sharp, stark and clear to complement their skin. They look best in intense, rich colors, like black, navy blue, red, and hot pink. For lighter colors, wear bright white or icy pastels, such as cool blues, pinks and yellows. Avoid earthy tones and subdued colors like beige, orange and gold as they will make the skin look unhealthy.
Winter celebrities: Alicia Keys, Rosario Dawson, Kristin Kreuk

Warm Color Seasons

Springs can wear very pale, soft colors, such as peach, camel, golden yellow, golden brown, and aqua. They also look good in ivory, bright greens, true reds, clear blues and coral. Avoid colors that are too dull and muted or too dark. Avoid black and white, which are also too contrasting.
Spring celebrities: Gillian Anderson, Lindsay Lohan, Evangeline Lily

Autumn profiles have a lot of depth to their warm skin tone. Rich golden, spicy, and earthy colors will accent the complexion. Autumns can wear both muted and rich warm colors that are seen in autumn leaves such as camel, beige, olive, orange, gold, and dark brown. They also look great in a rich warm grey.
Autumn celebrities: Jessica Alba, Natalie Portman, Aishwarya Rai

With the correct colors (in cosmetics and clothing) :

Your skin tone will appear radiant and glowing..........

Your eyes will appear brighter and clearer..........

Your hair will reflect highlights.......

You will hear compliments - such as "You look great”!

With the wrong colors (in cosmetics and clothing) :

Your skin tone will appear tired and drained..........

Your eyes may appear shadowed, dark circles.........

Even your teeth can appear with a slight yellow hue.......

You will hear comments - such as "You look tired” "Do you feel OK?"

If you aren't sure if you have Cool or Warm Skin Tones, these comparisons should help:

COOL - You look best in these colors:

Includes "jewel tones" - blues, greens, pinks, purples, blue-greens, magentas, and blue-based reds.

Foundation is pink based

Looks better in pure white than ivory

Can easily wear black

My skin is:

Very dark brown with reddish or blue undertonesBrown with pink undertone
True olive (most Asians and Latinos)
Medium with no color in cheeks
Medium with faint pink cheeks
Pale with no color in cheeks
Pale with pink undertones
Ruddy-pinkish red
Brown or bronze when I tan

WARM - You look best in these colors:

Includes "earth tones" - yellows, oranges, browns, yellowish greens and orange-based reds.

Foundation is yellow based

Looks better in ivory than pure white

Looks washed out with black worn close to the face

My skin is:

Very dark brown with golden undertones
Brown with golden undertone
Medium with golden undertones
Pale with peach or gold undertones
Golden brown, when I tan

lunch, movie, dinner

Thurs- Met up with Syl and Keri for lunch. I was late, late, late. Ya, I really thought I would be able to wake up in time without the help of an alarm clock. And guess wat, I was WRONG. I rushed down to Orchard in berms, tee, sandals and a humongous zit situated just under one of my nostrils. My self-estemm plummeted some more when I saw them, they were dressed to kill. I was dressed down and furnished with a painful zit at the most inappropriate of places.

The 3 of us did some catching up over lunch and then Joa came to join us for a movie. We watched a comedy "The House Bunny".

Some funny quotes from the movie.

Oliver: You given any thought to who you might be voting for?
Shelley: I definitely won't listen to what Simon says, he is just so mean. I usually always agree with Paula and Randy.
Shelley: (pause) Oh, you meant the president.

Shelley: (in all seriousness) The eyes are the nipples of the face.

Tink all of us enjoyed it. The female lead is adorable heheh. I bought this HUGE bag of popcorn which I shared with Joa, and we manged to finish it. That was quite amazing bcos, it really looks huge. I loved Cathay's popcorn, and watching a comedy while munching ur way through the entire show is therapeutic..it makes u feel so good.

Haven seen Syl for a few mths and she still looks good, although she is, ahem.

After the show, we went our separate places and I met up with a certain someone for dinner. Luckily he was able to make it as it was a last minute thing. Although I dun have a thing for office guys, I have always thought he looks good in office attire. After dinner, we went to Guardian to find my pimple bursting remedy...but so far its useless. Patience is a virtue and I need it right now.

IMM Daiso! again....

Sun- Met up with a certain someone to IMM. The main purpose was to go down to Daiso to find a few more items that I need for storage. I really tink I like IMM, for one thing, its not beside the mrt station and u need to take a shuttle bus. For me, it kinda builds up the excitement, for in my head I will sort of imagine it to be away from the city, although the shuttle bus ride just takes all of five minutes.

It's a family oriented mall, and I like seeing the throngs of families there, instead of fashionable shoppers dressed up to the nines. Bought some boxes, hanging panels, mini drawers, charcoal mask etc. It's so fun, walking around with a basket and scourging for cheap buys. Cos the outlet is so huge and if u walk slowly and look carefully at each section, u'll never know, u might just find hidden treasures. It's like a kid being set loose in a huge candy store. But I am not a kid anymore, so I kinda feel like an auntie, just pottering around. I wanna go to the food section next time, heard they sell nice cupcakes. He bought a mask and toner too, and I gave him instructions on the usage. In fact, I am slowly training him on a skincare regime, tats like sooooo fun.

Went to this open garden on top of IMM, and u have kids running around in a water playground soaked to their skins, there are literally giant taps splashing water down on them! Darn, it looks so fun. I wanna bring my niece there next time when she is older!

We also went down to Giant to shop for groceries. It's weird to say this, but navigating around the aisles with a shopping trolley is rather enjoyable..I must be getting old. Something is changing.

dinner n dessert yum yum..

Sat- Met up with Keri, Kathy and Gerald at cityhall last Sat. The purpose was just a simple dinner which I suggested to be at Esplanade, Gluttons Bay to try out a new western stall that was reviewed in 8 days magazine. Just for the novelty, its rather boring to always keep eating at the same shopping malls, food courts etc.

We gals ordered this steak called "love me tender" and Gerald ordered "the loin king". All of us thinks its quite nice, although I am not a expert at steak comparisions. After that, at my suggestion again, we went to find this ice cream palor place called "7th heaven". I read abt it the night before and thought of going there, but as it was not a confirmed thingy, I din jot down the address nor the number. Anyway, we had an "adventure" trying to find out where was the exact location and by the time we reached there my energy was spent and my mood spoilt. But the ice-cream and chocolate muffin we had was marvellous though.

Although I had already apologised more a few times to Keri, still tink its still better to put it down in words here. As that day was sort of to help her celebrate her bd and also to pass her the bd present shared by kathy and me, its quite bad form of me to keep to myself. I felt quite guilty and bad abt it for a few days. I have always been the tempermental/moody sort, easily affected by words and surroundings, but maybe I did hide it better in the past. So Keri, if u are reading this, hey at least the dinner n dessert was good! Hope u like the present given by us, although I tink the onli present u need is a bf. (I am so gonna be scr***d)

And whoever is reading this, if to ur misfortune that u pissed me off for some reason or another, intentionally or unintentionally, pls rest assured. I always forget abt it almost immediately after. I have a really short memory.

elva music showcase

Went down to catch Elva's music showcase at Expo, Max pavillion a few wks ago. My sis had a pair of free tickets as her company was one of the sponsors. She already had plans on tat day, so I went with a certain someone instead.

Elva's showcase started at 8pm and we reached on time. Spend the next half hour seated and waiting for the showcase to start...there were alot of people inside, abt 2000-3000. But like us, most of them were not Elva's fans and were there only to see the free show.

Hmm the show was alrite, most of the audience din have tat much of a reaction, except for those that were in the very front. I did some clapping and whistling occasionlly, must give some face rite? Although most of her songs I have never heard before..

After that, our next destination was to Changi Airport. It was a spur of the moment decision based on a comment I made about planes. Ok, the truth is tat I always thought watching planes taking off and landing would be a romantic thing to do...

So wat happened was that we went to Terminal 3, found the viewing gallery...AND I COULD'NT SEE ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF THE GLASS PANES. Only my own reflection, and everyone's else tat were walking around. I don't understand why and was so upset! While I was plastering my face to the glass, vainly straining my eyes trying to see At Least Something Out There, he teased me by asking if this is my idea of being romantic. =_= Sigh...Terminal 3 is a failure in terms of where planes viewing is concerned.

Anyway, we did some walking around to check out the shops...also had a very good long chat at the viewing gallery. By the time we left, it was alry abt midnite and no more mrts. So we took a cab instead. He dropped me off at Arena Country Club for a fren's bd celebration, waited for my fren to come down and fetched me before heading home himself.

Today is Carrie's bd, have bought a present for her but not sure when to pass it to her.

It's a year and three now.

Shixing's bd celebration at Arena Country Club

He had booked a room which comes equipped with a remote-controlled ktv system. (2pm to next noon 12pm.) Most of the crowd had already arrived in the evening, so i was the latest person to arrive. At 3plus in the morning, those who had stayed on started to leave, so only shixing, tyson and me was left.

We sang until 8plus in the morning, then went down to BK for breakfast. After tat, headed back to the room, sang abit more and packed up before leaving. Reached home at 10plus in the morning...Rest time!

The initial crowd...most of them whom i dunno haha

The guys doing their usual silly poses

Shixing laughing gleefully while unwrapping his present and me beside him stealing a bite of someone's pineapple pie

Last pic of those who stayed until 3plus, leaving me, tyson and shixing

A drunk shixing on the couch belting out his old old songs(wang jie, cao meng aka the grasshoppers etc)

Me and tyson all "wrapped up in the moment"
