it was past midnight when we arrived at clarke quay. loads of people were still milling around partying. us? we just headed over to Hagen Dazs for a fondue session...yummy...

people were walking ard with either horns on their head or a little santa hat. personally i tink the hat looks kinda stupid. to be fair, i tink i look stupid with it too.

there were alot of girls wearing the horns but they just din look devilish enough, opps.
AND NONE of them look as fitting as our "representative" below, tada!

i was walking to the bus-stop in the morning when one of my shoe straps broke. it was raining, i was holding an umbrella and and had to limp back to my house to wear a new pair of heels. late again....so much for mondays.

as i was walking to the bus-stop(again), i received a call from him asking where i am.we had a short conversation and hanged up. then i realized he called me cos it was raining. tats very sweet.

The Countdown Begins (by Jimmy Lau)

An article someone dear send to me on why christians don't celebrate Christmas. Do they or don't they?

It's just 17 more days and it'll be goodbye 2008 and welcome 2009. As I ponder on this year, what have I done for the Lord? Have I made myself useful in 2008? Am I still the same, doing only what is required and nothing more? In life, many would want to do the minimum. At work, when one becomes 'too clever' and makes many suggestions, one ended up doing them.

Unfortunately, this attitude is carried forward into the Lord's business. We have many 'happy go lucky' Christians who are happy to be in the state they are in: I'm here to worship God, please do not burden me with church work.

I would like to be free from responsibility too. I would prefer to be a student than a bible class teacher. I would like to be free on a Friday night instead of immersing several hours in doing the bulletin. Who does not want to be a free man?

But on the other hand, I'm not one who can sit still and let Murphy's Law run its course. The bulletin, bible lesson, preaching and the curriculum must be of a certain standard. And if I want certain things to be running in a certain direction, who else is in a better position to do it than myself? At least, it is better than sitting down and complaining

about everything and why it is not being done this way or that. Just Do It! At least, I can say, „I did it my way."

Nehemiah saw the problem in Jerusalem and what did he do? Did he scream and complain? Did he ask, "Why isn‟t someone doing something?" No, he said, "Send me" (Neh 2:5). The prophet Isaiah also said, „Send me" (Isa 6:8). They did not ask, „Why is no one doing anything?" They just did it when they saw something had to be done. They were there to make things happened.

See something not according to your liking? Just do it. Help to improve things around the house. Say not, „Why is the table so messy?" Clear the mess. Say not, "Why is the bible class so boring?" Be a bible class teacher. Say not. "Why won‟t someone else write this article?" You are right; be a writer yourself.

What is Wrong with Christmas ?

By Jimmy Lau

From November onwards, it is impossible to forget that Christmas is coming. Coloured lights decorate many town centres and shops, along with shiny decorations, and artificial snow painted on shop windows.

In streets and shops, 'Christmas trees' (real or plastic evergreen 'conifer' trees) will also be decorated with lights and Christmas ornaments.

Shopping centres become busier as December approaches and often stay open till late. Shopping centre speaker systems will play Christmas 'carols' - the traditional Christmas Christian songs, and groups of people will often

sing carols on the streets to raise money for charity. Most places of work will hold a short Christmas party about a week before Christmas. Although traditional Christmas foods may be eaten, drink (and plenty of it) means that

little work will be done after the party!

Christmas is a holiday shared and celebrated by many religions. It is a day that has an effect on the entire world. To many people, it is a favorite time of the year involving gift giving, parties and feasting. Christmas is a holiday that unifies almost all of professing Christendom.

The spirit of Christmas causes people to decorate their homes and churches, cut down trees and bring them into their homes, decking them with silver and gold. In the light of that tree, families make merry and give gifts one to another. When the sun goes down on December 24th, and darkness covers the land, families and churches prepare for participation in customs such as burning the yule log, singing around the decorated tree, kissing under the mistletoe and holly, and attending a late night service or midnight mass.

What is the meaning of Christmas? Where did the customs and traditions originate?

The first Christmas was not celebrated until the 4th century A. D. when the Catholic church of that time accommodated the pagan practices of their day. The merrymaking, exchanging of gifts, etc. came from the festival of Saturnalia (a festival to the god, Saturn) and the date, December 25, was an adaptation of the

birthday of Mithra (the sun god). Therefore, instead of calling these practices evil and opposing them (idolatry, false religion, and worship of false gods), the Catholic church fabricated and proclaimed that Jesus was born on December 25 (there is absolutely no known truth in this), and the festival of Saturnalia and the birthday of Mithra were now going to be celebrated as the birthday of Christ.

The Catholic church of the 4th century did not oppose the evil idolatry of its day, but they actually participated in it by giving them new names. Was this pleasing in the sight of God? Not at all! What about today? Should Christians participate in Christmas? Should they do as the 4th century Catholic church did (take a pagan holiday and "Christianize" it)?

As we face this issue, it must be understood that we have inherited 1600 years of deceit. The idea that Jesus was born on December 25 is made up (no man on earth knows when He was born). All the practices that surround it (giving gifts, Christmas trees, etc.) are all rooted in pagan practices of the past and have absolutely no Biblical foundation whatsoever. Therefore, the celebration of Christ's birth (Christmas) and the way it is celebrated are not around anywhere in the Bible, and everything about it (the date and manner of celebration) is not from God. What is not from God, and is of a spiritual nature, is from the domain of the Devil (Ephesians 6:12; Revelation 12:9; John 8:44).

From the first Christmas to the present day, Christmas has always been associated with idolatry and wicked superstitious customs (in the past, Mithra, the sun god; Today, Santa Claus, magic, sorcery, the god of materialism). Is this something the Christ of the Scripture would associate Himself with? Certainly not!

In fact, the word "Christmas" comes from the blasphemous term "Christ" and "mass". The mass comes from the Catholic church where they teach that the bread and juice of Communion (the Eucharist) actually turns into the literal body and blood of Jesus (transubstantiation), and Christ is sacrificed (offered up) again at each mass (this

goes directly against Hebrews 9:27-28 and 10:11-18). The very term itself "Christmas" actually degrades our Lord.

What's wrong with celebrating Christmas just simply and solely as a celebration of Christ's birth? The error comes to light and is seen when we realize that a celebration of Christ's birth is a form of worship. Everything surrounding Christmas is not from God's Word. And when it comes to worship, God has said, "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:24)

So, what is wrong with Christmas?

1. To say that Jesus was born on December 25th is a lie!

2. Trees, wreaths, holly, mistletoe and the like are strictly forbidden as pagan and heathen! To say that

these are Christian or that they can be made Christian is a lie!

3. The Lord never spoke of commemorating his birth but rather commanded us to remember the sacrifice of His suffering and death, which purchased our salvation. (1 Cor 11:23-29).

Think about it! Can we worship and honour God by involving ourselves with customs and traditions, which God Himself forbade as idolatry? Can we convince God to somehow "Christianize" these customs and the whole pretense and lie of Christmas, so we can enjoy ourselves? Can we obey through disobedience?

christmas presents

after all the hassle of rushing to buy presents in tat few days leading up to christmas, i did not give out the presents on christmas day after all. was supposed to meet up keri in town to just pass her the presents for her and the rest of the gals, but there was simply no chance.

meeting her n jess out for dinner today, but i din bring the presents out. oops.

the little devil

my 9 mths old niece..this is her normal expression.

if u look closely, u can actually see a trickle of drool on her chin, woo!

drooling is a normal activity.

the silent countdown to christmas

christmas was a quiet one. it was raining almost all day, so my relative's bbq had to be cancelled at the last min. My cousin junie(it's her family tat was organizing the bbq) sms me.

"lets have oven-cooked food instead of bbq food haha..."

spotted a bag at bugis that i thought Junie might like while we were waiting for his computer to be set up, n i bought it happily. its from the brand Commodite, an unique olive green shoulder bag. i was pretty tempted to buy it for myself instead. but its hard to find a bag tat she might like, n i been lookin for it for a yr plus. its tat hard.

we went over late in the evening for the microwaved food, had some chitchat with the relatives. my whole family was there. a rather noisy event.

we went off at 11 plus bcos my bro wanted to go to town area to look at the decorations. midnite came and it was christmas. it came just like tat, with no countdown, nothing dada. we wouldn't have known had i not been checkin out the time. but my loved ones were all by my side, n tats wat matters.

early christmas buffet

had buffet at parkroyal hotel last sat. we had fun! still waiting for the rest of the pics.

the gals..syl doing her best imitation of korea.

me and keri, she was in a tight va-voom tube dress tat day.

someone is an "extra" here

*tickle tickle*...*chuckles giggles*

yes, man!

watched the yes man with syl and gang last fri. well, we dun realli have a gang la, but if we do, then syl is the gang leader!

anyway ya ya, there were 5 of us. syl, keri, joa, jeremy and me! as u can see, i was sort of a lightbulb. originally they had alry bought tickets, but since i was a last min addition, the tickets they bought for me was seated alone behind them. i must have look pathetic enough, bcos joa n syl separate themselves so i can sit with syl. poor joa sat in the back by himself which i thought was quite gentlemenly of him.

the show was quite inspiring and funny. its abt saying yes to opportunities in life, but most of all, its abt saying yes when your heart is saying yes..sounds quite corny...but Yes! YES!

after the show, we went for drinks nearby at an open-air kopitiam. had a heated discussion with them abt marriage. more precisely, the conversation was about cheating in a marriage? hmm. mayb my views bordered on the extreme, but then this is one of the few things tat i strongly feel abt. i am stubborn i admit. this will be a weakess and a strength.

christmas eve

ok i am late for work today. cun wake up bcos the room was too dark. no doubt i slept realli late the nite bfore, but it wun have affected me bcos i usually sleep late anyway. but bcos of the rain, my room turned out realli dark and i din wake up as usual bcos there was no sun.

n i was onli supposed to be late for 15mins. but then the mrt train screwed up, n by the time i reached amk i was pretty pissed, so i went down to hail a cab. then the cab queue was freaking long and so i went up to take the mrt again.

by the time i reach office it was 9.35am. my office has this weird policy of fining people who are late. the later you are, the more fine u have to pay. i thought its just the fine i need to pay, but turns out, i need to work an extra half day as well.

$40 fine + an extra half day of work. cool. so upsetting to get this on xmas eve. well. hope this wun spoil my mood cos its christmas after all.

just grin and bear with it lo. be meeting him later after work at sim lim to buy his new computer, bring to his house, then we r going to my relative's bbq. a quiet christmas. its going to be a new year soon and a new beginning, hopefully.

trying to psych myself up..so EVERYONE... .......

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!~~~~

survey call? ya rite

one incident happened recently tat made me all riled up. there was this guy who called me from a private number while i was outside eating dinner.

he had claimed that he was calling on behalf of Breast Cancer Foundation for a survey, and that i just need to answer a few questions.

I ask him outright how am i supposed to know if he is telling the truth as he is calling me from a private number. he replied that they were supposed to remain annoymous(BULL!!!!!!SHIT!!!!!)

anyway i told him i am not doing the survey(who knows wat he would ask) because there is no way for him to verify, and so tats the end of tat.

and so i called up the Breast Cancer Foundation office to check yesterday. firstly the staff told me they do not use guys to conduct surveys, then i could heard her sniggering on the phone when i came to the part abt the guy explaining he had to remain annoymous.

so ladies, next time if u ever encounter such a call, please tell him with confidence to go eat shit.

fridays

he stood there forlornly with a metal donation tin
throngs of people walking past him, lost in their own world
he is invisible

to acknowledge him means you are expected to donate a penny
who cares?

its friday after all and people are out to party
there he stood forlornly at a corner
Invisible, holding a tin of pennies

subject to irritated looks from passerbys tat deemed him as a pest
blocking their way out to party
they went out of their way to avoid him
its friday after all

minutes before, i stepped away from him too
cos its friday after all
a reflex action it is, cultivated from years of looking at the ground
instead of the needy

tats the way it is after all

but its friday and more people need to be happy

i walked up to him wordlessly
inserted a two dollar note into his small metal tin

his face lighted up like a christmas tree
his grin stretched like miles
he wished me with all his heart a very nice day

for the money tat wouldnt belong to him

how easy it is to light up someone's day
without nary a word
n a measly two dollar note

ramblings

Is it wrong to want to be happy?
Is it wrong to have expectations?

I do not want the nightmares to translate to real life
I worry
Confused, wondering
But there is nowhere to turn
My choice is mine and mine alone
The path I tread, no one leads me
Someone is far behind me

I need to stop, retrace my steps
Or just stop. stop.
Or just go. Go.
Go far away where its too late to regret.

The Heart Test

Your result for The Heart Test...

Slave to Emotions

You are 40% Independent, 90% Idealistic, 70% Intimate, and 100% Indulgent!

The Slave to Emotions

Dependent, Idealistic, Intimate, Indulgent

You are the most emotional of hearts, the Slave to Your Emotions. You crave love, and have high standards for love. You are very intimate and value harmony with a mate. Sometimes you may feel that you are over-emotional and see this as a curse at times, because you are so emotionally-charged, and you so greatly desire love. You might want to break the emotional chains that bind you, but find that the ideals of love and intimacy are firmly shackled to you and cannot be severed.

Matches for the Slave to Emotions:

The Bleeding Heart

The Bleeding Heart is idealistic and indulgent as you are, and just as love-needy, making for lots of shared common ground. You'll also find the Bleeding Heart to be more passionate and fun-loving, something that at first might turn you off, but you will find this will provide a perfect balance to your intimate nature.

The Heart of Gold

The Heart of Gold values harmony and unity just as you do, and shares your ideals of love and intimacy, but is more independent. The Heart of Gold will never leave you and always be there to love you, and this above all else you will appreciate. The Heart of Gold's loving nature will make you feel as if you have found someone to help carry your rattling emotional chains, and that they are glad to do it.

The Patron Saint's Heart

The Patron Saint's Heart craves love just as you do and value harmony and togetherness as well, but is more down-to-earth and passionate than you. However, you will value these more sensual qualities, and the Patron Saint's more protective and loving nature will make you feel loved needed, something value greatly.

Your exact opposite is The Lord's Heart.

Avoid Explicits when possible. They're open and frank nature is contrary to yours. You may also want to avoid Independents unless they have other qualities you seek to balance them out, as you are a person who craves closeness with another person.

recent movies i've watched

Been watching more movies recently, since my sis had supp me an Amex card that would offer discounts on the movie tickets plus a FREE bag of popcorn(yipee!~)anyday of the week.

So far we have watched Zack and Miri make a porno, Cape no. 7 and Bolt. I would say Zack and Miri is quite funny in a vulgar and coarse way. Its suppose to be a spoof of porn movies, i quite enjoyed it..cos my mind is not so clean anyway haha.

Bolt was recommended to me by Keri, who loved the movie. The dog is really cute!~ Its heartwarming and funny..it had me laughing out loud and stompin my feet at some parts. Perfect for animal esp dog lovers.

Cape no. 7 was so-so only..despite the gd reviews, somehow it din really get to me. i find it a bit draggy at some parts la..but overall is ok.

My next target is Twilight!~

p.s of course the best thing is the person tats accompanying me, never mind the movies.

seldom seen, deeply missed

Mum's bd

The bd dinner was abruptly changed to a chinese restaurant in Marina Square called Pu Tian. The food was so-so only...among all the restaurants i went with my family so far, this one ranks at the bottom few. Anyway i was the only one who din like it, my family had no complaints.

At Pu Tian after eating...the waiter tat took the pics for us was tasked to engage baby to look at the camera by waving a plastic fork AND taking the photos for us at the same time. Needless to say, he failed very badly.

After tat, we went to this place called Marina Barrage. Never heard of it, apparently its just opened a few mths ago. The place is a reservoir/dam frm wat i understand, which is very little. But the place is kinda cool! The weather tat nite was reminiscent of cameron highlands/genting, and the wind was the type tat would blow away ur wig if u have any. Shiok, cos my hair is real. If u like to play in water, then this is the place for u.

Then its off to home sweet home to cut the bd cake.

short updates for this wk

just some short updates bfore i rushed out to meet kathy (presumely) since she went missing halfway while toking to me online. Today is my mum's birthday, so my family will either be going out for dinner at ding tai feng or the ulu crabs eating place at amk.

this is a week of ups and downs, as is every wk. one thing about me is tat my mood tends to change pretty fast, and the person tat usuallys get to see tat side of me is, lets put it, suay. i ever dropped tears while eating a normal dinner in a foodcourt, n everyone must have thought we were quarelling, but nope, its just me upset abt abt something totally unrelated to him. it's getting better though, i am trying to motivate myself and he is constantly there for me which i really appreciate loads.

anyway summary of this wk, i din go for the family holiday, but i took a bloody mc on wed and got screwed for it. its all rather stupid..i went to see the doc for a follow up consultation on sun and he ask me to go for an xray on mon to check out my lungs. he wanted to give me an mc for mon but i told him i had some stuff to do so i delayed my xray till wed. anyway on tues at work i was quite upset abt some stuff tat me n my new colleages found out, regarding commission structure etc, which the company was not upfront abt. the motivation for work was deflated, and i decided to go for the xray as arranged by the doc cos before tat i was in two minds abt delaying it further. well i got screwed for the mc for a reason tat i was not happy abt. and i had to spend further money bcos after the xray i had to go to the doc again to get the mc tat i was supposed to b given on sun. but just time time round they have to charge me for consultation again and i am pretty unhappy abt spending extra money n i shd have taken the bloody mc on mon when they offered to me so y din i???

anyway the one day mc give me rest and recharge me to motivate myself. cos i am sure if i went to work on tat day my face would be a black one. but i have to reiterate, i am very unhappy with some of the rules and regulations of my company. i am unhappy with the commision structure tat they failed to be upfront abt, and the various cost-cutting measures that they implemented and which everyone there seems to tink its normal. the only thing i am happy abt is that its an opportunity for me to brush up on my knowledge and reading, so i shall make the most of that.

the short updates don't seem tat short after all, and i really need to rush out!
